Who is your next of kin?

Writer: waterwindwinewaterwindwine

Proverbs 7:4-5

"Say to wisdom, ‘You are my sister’ and call understanding your nearest kin. That they may keep you from the immoral woman, from the seductress who flatters with her words.”

The truth about sisters is that they are always in your business. They hold you responsible for your words and actions even more than brothers do so these verses are telling us that we are to call wisdom our sister because it will be in our business. It will correct us and have our back in the same way a sister will. We are further to call understanding our nearest kin. This type of acceptance of an intimate, personal relationship with anything puts us in a position to constantly receive without resistance. When I think of “next of kin” I think of the person you name so that if something happens you, then that person is authorized to handle all of your business.. This is exactly the point God is attempting to make. He is reminding us that we died … it is no longer we who live but Christ who lives in us. If that is the case and it is, then the authorized “person” to manage all of our affairs is now, and forever will be understanding. As a pastor of mine once said, “Knowledge is the word of God in -{then it goes through the understanding processor} and wisdom is the word of God out. So, if Wisdom is our sister, and understanding is our next of kin, then we will walk in a way that directs our paths onto the paths of righteousness, thoroughly proving what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God for our lives!!
