Stirring up strife

Proverbs 10:12-

        “Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sin”

Hatred and love are positioned here as polar opposites- in juxtaposition to one another. They are qualities possessed by two  completely separate spirits- One of satan and the other the Spirit of the Lord. Proverbs 13:10 states that only by pride comes strife and James 3:16 asserts that where envying and strivings are, there is confusion and every evil work. To stir up strife, therefore, is the full intent and spiritual goal of the wicked one for the purpose of bringing about confusion and every evil work- killing, stealing, and destroying. Trouble makers, gossips, those with critical tongues, even hatred in our hearts about any other human will stir up strife as a supernatural consequence and will therefore produce strife and ultimately destruction.
