Proverbs 30:32-33
"32 If you have been foolish in exalting yourself, Or if you have devised evil, [put your] hand on [your] mouth. 33 For [as] the churning of milk produces butter, And wringing the nose produces blood, So the forcing of wrath produces strife.”
Self exaltation is prideful and devising evil is unloving. Both of these actions display themselves through the mouth immediately following their inception in the heart. The command to place one hands on their mouth should either of these hideous expulsions proceed forth is in place that the seed these actions sow may be stopped. The purpose of their quick and immediate extinction is described {albeit veiled} at the end of verse 33. The forcing of wrath produces strife. To force, here is to place something under pressure so that it expels something else- like smashing a grape or twisting the nose. Both self exaltation and premeditated evil elicits wrath that is in a man to come to the surface and strife will be displaced outside of that man's heart. Thus creating a whirlwind of wickedness and destruction because where envying and striving are, there is confusion and every evil work {James 3:16}.
