Blood and water

    John 19:34

"But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.”

The above verse is a fulfillment of a prophecy from Psalm 22:14-

"I am poured out like water, And all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me.”

It is commonly believed that Jesus actually, physically died of a heart attack based on Psalm 22:14. {Notice that his bones were out of joint but not broken} The resulting  heart attack can be traced back to His injuries prior to and on the cross, however, He himself said that no one could take His life from Him, but that He laid it down.  For Him to lay His life down was a spiritual matter. He laid it down because of the sin that He became for us. He voluntarily went to the cross and being fully aware, became sin for us- this is no front-page news… However, there are two caveats I would like to demonstrate.

To begin, 1 John 5:6 says that "This is he that came by water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. “ Now, in terms of normal human birth, there is always blood and there is always “water” {Amniotic fluid} when a baby is born, and although Jesus was born that way and this verse superficially refers to that, the more esoteric meaning is right here in our study verse- John 19:34. Jesus Christ- as the savior of the world, as the Messiah, actually manifested salvation when He became sin for us on the cross. He- as the savior was the first born among many brethren when He was resurrected. Thus, when 1 John states that it was He - Jesus who came by water and blood and verified by the Spirit, it means that at that moment when His heart ruptured under the weight of all the sin that has ever been, and the soldier pierced His side, that is the exact moment that He abrogated all sin. It is the natural reaction of the human body, when faced with the weight of sin to fail under the effects of that sin.

Secondly- and lastly, during the time of the end, it is written that "26 Men's hearts {will be } failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” Luke 21:26-27

This statement indicates that at the time that Jesus appears in the clouds to rapture the church, there will be a great number of people who will see Him and realize that they have not accepted the only acceptable payment for their sin. Then, as a physical response to their spiritual condition, they will suffer heart attacks en masse. The physical response of the bodies of these people to the face of their creator shows, in perfect and grand fashion the adroitness of The Holy One by displaying that His Word never fails.

Leviticus 17:11 says that the life of the flesh is in the blood. Thus, if someone does not receive rebirth into a new creation by receiving the blood of the lamb and being washed by the water of the Word, {Eph 5:26}, then they will remain under the Old Testament Law, unwittingly or not. Their blood- having not been transfused, and their sin not being washed away, their own blood will kill them. For their blood will be dead and their fleshy hearts will fail them. How can they not?
