Being in isolation

Proverbs 18:1

“A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment.”

To isolate oneself is to keep oneself from facing accountability. To rage against all wise judgment can be an internal or external event. God has created us to live in community and that each should be subject to the others. It is the only way that the Body of Christ is able to grow properly. Think of a human hand that just wanted to “do its own thing” so it detached itself from its body. that hand would die quickly and the body would be deformed and unable to function in the perfection that God created it to function in. The rage created inside a rebellious person is the reaction that God prescribed a human to experience when they are rebellious. They fight internally because they know that what they are doing is against the will of God. God, in His mercy and love, sends others to the aide of the rebellious one to guide them and show them how to step on again to the paths of righteousness. However, it is very simple to avoid other people and isolate oneself thereby seemingly quenching the struggle. Not only is this behavior observed in the life of the rebellious, it is also observed in the lives of those who abuse others. Typically an abuser will isolate their victim from family and friends because inside themselves they know their treatment of the victim is wrong.
